  • Movie Plug-in for TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5, TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress, TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 and TMPGEnc MovieStyle that enables support of Toshiba Corporation's SpursEngine™.

Enable high-speed encoding with SpursEngine™ equipped devices!

This product is a plug-in which makes it possible for TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5, TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress, TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 or TMPGEnc MovieStyle to perform hardware encoding on devices embedded with the Toshiba Media Streaming Processor SpursEngine.

Important:

This plug-in requires that you own TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5, TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress, TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 or TMPGEnc MovieStyle AND a supported SpursEngine hardware device. See below for currently supported SpursEngine devices.

What is SpursEngine?

Toshiba's SpursEngine, a co-processor that uses four Synergistic Processing Element (SPE) cores based on "Cell Broadband Engine™", offers high-speed calculations to perform the huge number of processes to transcode/encode standard video into crystal clear 1920x1080 High Definition (HD) video. It offers high performance media streaming, with a fast clock frequency of 1.5GHz, and a low power consumption range of 10W to 20W. It can also off-load decoding and encoding of MPEG-2 and H.264 from the CPU to SpursEngine devices.

Leadtek WinFast PxVC1100

Currently supported SpursEngine devices include Leadtek's WinFast PxVC1100 transcoding card (pictured), Canopus' FIRECODER Blu card, and select Toshiba Qosmio series laptop computers.

High-Powered, High-Speed Encoding

Blazing Fast MPEG-2 and H.264 Video Encoding

With TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5, TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress and TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5

By using this plug-in, you can now take control of the encoder circuits included in the SpursEngine and experience incredible output processing speed even with high CPU power-demanding tasks such as high-definition video processing. Furthermore, everything that the SpursEngine cannot do, such as audio encoding or video and audio multiplexing, is handled by the TMPGEnc software itself, creating content readily available for editing or DVD/Blu-ray creation.

With TMPGEnc MovieStyle

Combine the speed of SpursEngine encoding with MovieStyle's easy-to-use batch processing and folder monitoring for the quickest way to encode your video for your favorite digital device!

TMPGEnc MovieStyle target output devices that can be used with the TMPGEnc Movie Plug-in SpursEngine are as follows: PSP, iPod Classic / Nano / Touch / iPhone, Apple TV, and PlayStation 3.

Check out this real-time demonstration of how fast SpursEngine encoding is compared to CPU-only encoding with TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress!
In this example, SpursEngine encoding is almost twice as fast!
(Speed increase depends on your computer's hardware and your video's properties.)

Super Resolution feature

Upscale your SD content to HD!

Convert your SD video (720x480i, etc.) to sharp HD video (1920×1080) with Super Resolution technology. Better than merely resizing the video, it uses a Super Resolution algorithm developed by Toshiba and the SpursEngine's high speed calculation to make the image sharper and clearer at high resolutions.

*Option available when used with TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5, TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress and TMPGEnc MovieStyle.

*In TMPGEnc MovieStyle, Super-Resolution feature is only available when using the PlayStation 3 output profile.

Get higher speeds with NVIDIA® CUDA™

Increase your output by 200%!

On output, the SpursEngine plug-in also allows you to use our NVIDIA® CUDA™ technology-enabled filter processing*, adding a 200% or more increase in speed compared to a SpursEngine only output.

*When used with TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5, TMPGEnc 4.0 XPress and TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5.

*CUDA speed increases depend on the soucre file type and whether video filters are applied.
