License Serial Number Questions

Your license serial number appears on the payment confirmation email. For this reason, we recommend that you print and keep a copy of this email in a safe place. We also recommend that you register your license serial number with the TMPG Inc. User Registration database. By registering, not only you can retrieve all your licenses in case of loss, but you can also take advantage of user or upgrade discounts that we offer on all TMPGEnc software. TMPG Inc. is not obligated to and will not provide you with new license serial numbers. However, if you provide us with enough information (such as your email address when you purchased the program) we may be able to retrieve your license serial number. |

No. The license serial number must be used on only one machine. You can install the software and validate your license on another machine provided you first completely uninstall the software from the previous machine. The software and its license serial number cannot be used on more than one machine at a time. |

Online Validation Questions

We value our users, but we also have to insure that the workers at Pegasys Inc. and TMPG Inc. are rewarded for their work, so they can continue working on our next best software product. Also, we have obligations from our format licensors (Dolby® Digital, MP3, DivX®, MPEG, etc) regarding the degree of license protection we offer in our software. Not having the online validation would make impossible for us to provide certain important features. The online validation is currently the only method we have to enforce all those obligations. We hope in the future to offer a better solution. |

The data we get from the online validation system cannot be used to recover anything other than what you type in the validation window (i.e. your license serial number). You are not even obligated to type a personal or valid electronic mail address, unless you wish to receive our newsletter. TMPG Inc. simply provides tools, and the way you use them is of interest only when a problem occurs. |

There is currently no way for our software to function properly other than by performing the online validation, as required by our software. The online validation system needs an internet connection only at the time of validation. Once done, you can disconnect the host machine from the Internet and use the software until a new validation is required. |

While we strive to keep the system as simple and efficient possible on our side, we cannot control all aspects of your connection. If you cannot validate because the software cannot reach the validation server, please verify your Internet connection, check your firewall settings, internet protection software, anti-virus software, and proxy servers (if any). If you are working on a corporate network, check with your IT or network administrator if anything special needs to be done.
If the validation system states that your license serial number is invalid, please verify that you've correctly typed the license serial number.
There is also the possibility that you cannot validate because our validation server found that you misused the license serial number. In such an instance, please contact us.
