This plug-in makes it possible to decode and encode in Dolby® Digital (AC-3) 2 channel audio with products that do not support such a feature by default.


Our current software products have this feature by default, but users who are still using our older products can purchase this plug-in to add Dolby® Digital 2ch support.


The plug-in is for use ONLY with the following products:

  • TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5 or 1.6
  • TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress
  • TMPGEnc MPEG Editor

All newer products do not require the plug-in for Dolby Digital decoding and encoding.

  • OS: Windows Vista, XP or 2000 required.
  • If you already own this plug-in for one product, you can also use it with other products that support it. You may need to update your plug-in if you are having trouble with this.
  • Dolby Digital with 5.1 channels or other multi-channel sources will be encoded into 2 channels.

Changed or added features when TMPGEnc Plug-in AC-3 is integrated

Possibility to specify "Dobly Digital audio" for output
In the audio setting, the choice Dolby Digital (AC-3) appears, you can then choose Dolby Digital for output.
Re-encode Dolby Digital audio
For instance, when you are using source files with Dolby Digital (AC-3) audio, files made from a DVD-recorder, or MPEG files, you can re-encode the Dolby Digital audio and choose the track setting: mono, stereo, or dual channel (for bilingual broadcasting / used in some coutries).
*Dolby Digital (AC-3) with 5.1 channels or other multi-channel sources will be re-encoded into 2 channels.
Play(decode) Dolby Digital audio while editing
You can hear the Dolby Digital audio while cut editing, so it will be easier to edit.

Notice When you update "TMPGEnc Sound Plug-in AC-3", don't forget to update "TMPGEnc DVD Author" in the same time (otherwise the plug-in won't be recognized).
