The new TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress is the first release software which is optimized for the latest Intel Pentium 4 processor with HT Technology and also the previous Pentium4.
TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress includes the main features of TMPGEnc Plus 2.5 released in December 2001, and new features have been added too. This is a high quality multi-video format encoding software.
Video files such as AVI and MPEG files, but also sources like "Recorded DVD" or "Windows Media File" can be converted. Its performance and usability has been especially improved over prior versions.
The encoding quality is also better with the new "TMPGEnc Advance MPEG-1/2 Encode Engine".
Thanks to the "Video Mastering Engine", DVD videos can be edited in XDVD, the new high compression mode. It will stretch out the recordable time of your created DVD! Last but not least, the new "Technical Wizard" interface and the "basic video editing functions" allow smoother control for both beginners and professional users alike.
TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress supports TMPGEnc Sound Plug-in AC-3 which allows Dolby Digital (AC-3) 2ch audio decoding and encoding. *TMPGEnc Sound Plug-In AC-3 can be downloaded and purchased, separately or in a bundle. Customers who already have this plug-in, can also use it with TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress.
1. Easy-to-use with the new "Technical Wizard" interface.
The familiar and easy to use GUI (graphic user interface) used with "TMPGEnc DVD Author" has been adopted here too. It is designed so it can be used by beginners and professionals, allowing you to create your movie files smoothly no matter who you are.
2. Supports DVD-VR/VIDEO files (for input files)
DVD-video that you have authored (e.g. DVD Author) or made with your DVD recorder, can be converted into MPEG or other formats (*1). And of course, if your DVD-VR sources use Dolby Digital (AC-3) 2ch audio, you will be able to decode/encode it with TMPGEnc Sound Plug-in AC-3.
3. "TMPGEnc Advance MPEG-1/2 Encode Engine".
A greatly improved encode engine is used. Optimization of the encoding process means higher quality but also faster (5% to 30%) speed. Moreover, TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress uses the new memory access instructions of the latest Intel Pentium 4 processor (with HT Technology). Supporting the New Intel Pentium4 (codename Prescott) and its new instructions such as "Streaming SIMD Extension 3 (SSE3)" which dramatically optimizes the encoding process. Using the new Intel Pentium 4 processor will thus improve the processing performance and efficiency.
Introduction of the XDVD (eXtended DVD) format.
A new format called XDVD has been developed based on DVD-Video standard, which allows longer hours. The length of the GOP(Group of Pictures) in the DVD-Video standard is limited to 18 frames, but with the XDVD format, one GOP can contain up to 60 frames! High-quality and high-compression can be thus be attained at the same time. For instance, with the XDVD format it is possible to put 10 hours of video in a 4.7 GB DVD !!! (*2)
5. Video Mastering Engine(VME)
Cut editing and filter processing functions have been optimized, and new functions such as "high-speed seek or audio preview have been added".
6. New audio engine: "Advanced Acoustic Engine".
The Advanced Acoustic Engine ensures high audio quality. It minimizes the audio quality deterioration of "MPEG-1 Audio Layer2 (MP2)" which is the standard audio for MPEG format.
7. Supports TMPGEnc Plug-in AC-3
If you have this plug-in, you can decode and encode in Dolby Digital (AC-3) 2ch audio. This plug-in can be purchased alone or in a bundle with TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress.
8. Supports "Windows Media Audio/Video" files (*3)
You can easily create high quality Windows Media Audio/Video files by using TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress' various filters and correcting functions. Also, if you have a source with 5.1 ch, you can output it to 5.1 ch Windows Media Audio/Video format.
9. Supports MPEG-2 TS files recorded with Victor GR-HD1 (the 1st consumer HD camcorder)
High-Definition (HD) video recorded by the Victor GR-HD1 camcorder can also be cut-edited smoothly using fast thumbnail view. (*3).
10. Supports .dvr-ms files recorded with Windows XP Media Center
Supports import of TV recordings ( .dvr-ms files ) created with Windows XP Media Center. Metadata (TV show information) can also be checked when importing the files.
(*2) TMPGEnc DVD Author will be necessary for writing the XDVD file onto a DVD media. Pegasys does not guarantee that XDVD can be played in all DVD players, because it differs from DVD-Video standard specifications.
(*3) Protected WMV(ASF) files, or files without Seekable attributes cannot be loaded.
