Benchmark Test of TMPGEnc using Intel's HT Technology

1. Purpose of the Benchmark Test
To see the effect on TMPGEnc when using Intel HT Technology.


2. Testing Environment
This benchmark test was carried out using the following system:

The following three types of files were used as source for this benchmark test.

4. Outline of the test
We tested the encoding time of both TMPGEnc Plus 2.59 and TMPGEnc DVD Source Creator with the three files shown above (2.), switching between using HT Technology (ON) and without using HT Technology (OFF).
Since it was expected, that the encoding time might be changed by the multithread processing, even with the HT Technology switched off, we also tested toggling between the Multithread switched on and off in the TMPGEnc Environment Settings.
In this test, since an uncompressed AVI with large capacity is used as a source file, there is a possibility that disk access speed upon reading becomes a bottleneck. Therefore, two HDD was prepared, using each D drive as a drive for reading the source file, and each C drive for MPEG writing. (refer to g2. Testing Environmenth).
